  • Career Information Center - a set of REFERENCE BOOKS in the PBCC Library

    This is a 14-volume set of books containing information about many careers.  Volume seven contains Health career information, including various dental careers.

     

     

  • Encyclopedia of Careers - a set of REFERENCE BOOKS in the PBCC Library

    This is a four-volume set of books.  Use the index in voulme four to find the page numbers of your career choice.

     

     

  • Ebooks are available at PBCC.  For example:  Opportunities in Allied Health Careers
  •  Occupational Outlook Handbook, specifically,  entries for Dental Assistants and  Dental Hygienists

    Search for any career.  Each retrieved entry contains information about the nature of the work, working conditions, training, qualifications,

    advancement in the career, employment, job outlook, earnings, related occupations, and sources of additional information, particularly various websites.

  • ON-CAMPUS ACCESS or login from off-campus and then access the find Health and/or Dentistry databases in the Subject Listing.

    From on-campus, access many dental periodicals through PBCC subscription databases.  Find the name of a periodical and choose any database that provides access to the periodical.  Be sure to check the dates availale in each database because there are differences.

    Suggested databases are EBSCO's Academic Search Premier, CINAHL Plus with Full Text; also Thomson Gale's Health Reference Center Academic, Health Source / Consumer & Nursing Editions, Health Reference Center, and Health & Wellness Resource Center.  

     

    Many articles are retrieved by searching Google Scholar.  The full text is often available in JSTOR's Health & General Science Collection.  Students and faculty may notice that the access of JSTOR articles by way of Google Scholar is transparent on campus, but requires a user name and password when off campus.  If that should occur, go to the Articles & Databases Library web page and use the off-campus access to retrieve the articles through the JSTOR database.
